Selecting a cat to become the newest member of your family can be very exciting. Sometimes, the decision can be easy as falling in love with the cute little sight. However, if you are in search of a specific breed, it may be pretty complicated as you will need to put a lot of time and research into it. Some cats may be appealing to the eyes, but they lack the temperament to be with little children. Others may be too vicious and active which may be a problem if you love having a quiet time in your apartment. Below is a list of the most popular breeds of cat, to help you make you make an easy decision:
Persian cats
Persians are fluffy, regal and very, very beautiful. Short and round with a pretty large head, Persian cats require frequent grooming; so choosing one will be a bad choice if you are not ready to put in enough time and effort to keep them looking beautiful. Persian cats are quiet so if you have loud kids, don't get one.
Siamese cats
If you want a cat with a bucket-load of fun, you should get a Siamese cat. They have a short, sleek hair, unique dark points on their ears, tail, and feet that make it look exotic and charming blue eyes that will melt the toughest of heart. Although they have a loud yowling that sometimes can become annoying, Siamese cats are affectionate, full of energy and they don't get cranky if there is another pet in the home. Also, they require little attention.
Ragdoll cats
Big, affectionate, and very fluffy, the Ragdoll loves cuddling. They are very docile, so while they’re very playful with children, they don’t do well if they’re in public. If you have stubborn mice doing a lot of havoc while you are asleep, rest assured it will end up going or dead when a Ragdoll gets into your home, because they are excellent hunters. They require moderate training and are very easy to train.
Bengal cats
A Bengal cat is a cross between an Asian leopard cat and a domestic cat. They are sleek, playful, well-muscled and very intelligent. Do you want a cat that stands out from the rest? This is the cat for you. However, they require a large amount of grooming and attention.
Domestic cats
These cats are often called tabby or moggies because of the color ratio of their coats. Domestic cats aren’t a specific breed, but rather an amalgamation of different breeds. With that in mind, their temperament varies, but they make lovely pets and are very cheap.
Cats come in different temperaments, shapes, and sizes. So while the beautiful blue eyes of the Persian may seduce you or you may love the intelligence of a Ragdoll, there are other factors to put into consideration before you choose a pet. The payoff with a cat is it will be a companion you and your family will enjoy for years.
