Did you know that two of the top five school districts in Florida are located in the Southeast area? Miami-Dade County Public Schools are repeatedly among the top in the nation, partly because they're among the few to offer international studies and bilingual education. Broward County Public Schools are a close second. Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County graduates earn upwards of $100 thousand annually in college scholarships.

Southeast Florida is a great place for families. And it's not just due to excellence in education. This area boasts tons of bragging points for parents and the children and pets they love.

Green Spaces Bring Natural Comfort

Through its Florida Forever initiative, thousands of acres of Florida land have been set aside as protected. This includes large recreational areas such as Miami's Oleta River State Recreation Area -- a showcase urban park. Additionally, this area is home to a spectacular assortment of other natural attractions, including:

  • 14 State Parks
  • 5 Wildlife Refuges
  • 3 National Parks
  • 1 National Historic Site
  • Everglades National Park is located here, so is the famed Flamingo Garden. Additionally, many urban and developed areas of Southeast Florida are built around community parks and gardens to give residents and visitors access to nature even in the most industrialized areas. Oh, and then there's those endless miles of exquisite sandy beach, as well.

    Attractions Offer Unlimited Family Fun

Southeast Florida is home to the Ernest Hemingway House and the Museum of Discovery and Science. Families can spend a day at Pigeon Key or at the Audubon House and Tropical Gardens. From lighthouses to art museums, families who relocate to the sunny Florida shores have convenient access to unlimited attractions and amenities, including close proximity to Walt Disney World and the Magic Kingdom in Orlando.

    Fetching Dog Parks Abound

This area of The Sunshine State is home to no less than ten dog-friendly parks and beaches. From the Lake Ida Dog Park in Delray Beach to the Bark Park in Miami, your furriest friends will have plenty of places to hike and explore when you relocate here.

Job Opportunities Keep Residents in the Green

Many families relocate to Southeast Florida because they're following promotions at one of the area's formidable employers, which include:

  • American Airlines
  • Carnival Cruise Lines
  • Royal Caribbean International/Celebrity Cruises
  • Mount Sinai Medical Center
  • B/E Aerospace
  • Florida Power & Light
  • And for those home buyers who are seeking to pull up stakes altogether and move to the area in search of a job, there's no shortage of places to look.

Many people think of vacation when they consider the southeastern area of Florida, but in reality, this is a great place to live and work, as well. Gorgeous, year-round weather and unparalleled ocean views are only part of the appeal. Southeast Florida is a perfect place to raise a family, too.
